About us

We, Matt & Karen, started our great adventure on Match.com and kicked off our life together by sailing halfway around the world on a 40ft sailboat, SV Syzygy.  Now landlocked in New Mexico, we are exploring the Southwest with our 3 boys – Bodie (6.5), Jasper (5), and Emerson (2.5).  Roadtripping, hiking, and camping with these kiddos can sometimes be a challenge but we are learning how to make it a way of life!

We’re a homeschooling family in Los Alamos, New Mexico, hoping to give our boys a love for the great outdoors and provide them with skills they’ll enjoy for life. When it comes to camping, we are experts at getting off the beaten path, away from crowded campgrounds.  And adventuring to us can be as simple as checking out a local park or as ambitious as hiking a Colorado 14’er.
