Yurt Trip 2020

It was great to get out of town and enjoy the limited snowfall so far this year. The snowshoe to the yurt is a little over 2 miles. On the way in, there was maybe a foot of snow total, quite old and crusty. Fortunately, for us, a storm moved through while we were at the yurt and dropped about 6 inches. The extra fresh snow made sledding more exciting and the hike out pretty spectacular.

(we also wrote an earlier post about a visit to the same yurt which contains a map)

We’re a homeschooling family in Los Alamos, New Mexico, hoping to give our boys a love for the great outdoors and provide them with skills they’ll enjoy for life. When it comes to camping, we are experts at getting off the beaten path, away from crowded campgrounds.  And adventuring to us can be as simple as checking out a local park or as ambitious as hiking a Colorado 14’er.
