Summit of Yale, Colorado 14er

We managed a single Colorado trip this summer to hike Yale, at the beginning of August. The summer was otherwise filled with backyard porch construction and a skosh of rocketry. I’m disappointed that we did very little camping; hopefully the house improvements will be worth it in the long run.

We managed to find a quiet, isolated spot off the road on the east side of cottonwood pass. The camping would have been wonderful except the bugs were quite bad. Still better than camping 30 ft from the pavement with the masses.

Jasper was into baseball and poker this trip. He carved a wooden bat and they played wiffle ball for hours and hours.

Yale went well—the boys were rock stars. We summited successfully, slept hard the night after, then bailed on the bugs to head home.
